Mystic Eyes of Death Perception

Shiki got this ability when he experience death 8 years ago--He somehow got linked with the "root" of all things, where things are born from and goes back to when they die. The lines are where things are easily broken and the dot is its death. The lines can be easily seen but the dot needs a great amount of concentration to see. Anything born in this world has a certain life expectancy, and that's what he is seeing, or "perceiving". It doesn't matter whether or not the target is animate or inanimate because what he's actually killing is the meaning of the object in this world. When it gets pierced on the dot, the object loses its stability to exist in this world. It's a high-level thing than the death in a sense we know of. The scary part is that as long as he is able to perceive that he is able to kill a particular object, he is able to kill it, and thus he is virtually able to kill anything.
